The composite construction process is focused on the ultimate goal of producing an exceptionally strong and lightweight skiff. The hull starts out with high quality Gel coat and then quad axial matting. Using the multi directional fiber orientations creates a structurally superior composite that is designed to withstand anything you can throw at it. As a matter of fact, all the high stress areas are overlapped with several layers of unidirectional quad axial matting creating superior stiffness and strength. The entire floor of the Beavertail skiff is fully cored with 1" Airlite Core. Beavertail utilizes a state of the art process called vacuum infusion. The high density Airlite Core is vacuum infused with resin creating a very lightweight yet structurally strong composite. The result is an extremely durable and shallow drafting skiff. Our caps are glassed, glued and bolted every 6 inches to ensure that no separation could ever occur. All eyes, cleats and tower pads are backed with aluminum plates encapsulated in the laminate. Beavertail hulls are built with no compromises and no excuses. Maybe that's why we're one of only a handful of skiff builders to be certified at the Coast Gaurd's Maryland facility.
